Annual Report 2018 | September 2019
Transparency Working Group
The working group has so far focused on developing KPIs for business and human rights reporting. A lot of time was spent on figuring out how and what types of KPIs would add value to the already existing UNGP Reporting Framework (UNGP RF). The working group concluded that the UNGP RF offers a valuable tool for reporting on human rights from a qualitative and narrative point of view. It is now developing KPIs and other elements that could be added to this framework to further help make transparent human rights reporting by financial institutions. If successful, parties aim to develop these KPIs and other elements into a financial guidance supplement to the UNGP RF.
Unique chance to help banks track and report on human rights
get “A financial guidance supplement to the UNGP RF could help banks understand what performance indicators, and more broadly what disclosures, might be relevant for their business and sector. Tracking performance on human rights is new territory for banks in direct relation to the UNGPs. A supplement like the one we are developing is unique and missing from what is currently available. It could help get banks started on both tracking and reporting on human rights.”

Financial Guidance Supplement to UNGP RF
Within the Transparency Working Group, parties are currently developing KPIs that they hope to further develop into a financial guidance supplement to the UNGP RF. If this supplement were to be developed, how would it be useful to banks when reporting on human rights?
